Experimental Design Overview

Samples of rock or metal are first sealed in precious metal tubing along with a fluid of interest (e.g., water or brine).

The capsules are equilibrated at a temperatures between 300 and 700°C and pressures of 500 to 2000 bar (7 to 29 kpsi) in experimental vessels. The exact conditions are tailored to the client's needs.

Following the experiments, rock or metal sample material is analyzed for chemical, mineralogical, and/or structural changes, depending on the client's needs. Fluids can also be analyzed for chemical changes.
